About Georgy Minasyan (Minasov)
Georgy Minasyan (Minasov) (1933 – 2020) is an Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia, Duduk virtuoso, inventor, teacher, music educator and founder of the Dudukner Ensemble in Yerevan, Armenia. He graduated from Baku Music College where he performed with the Azerbaijan State Radio and Television Folk Instruments Orchestra as a soloist.
In 1983, he moved to Yerevan, Armenia, and joined the Gussan and Folk Music Ensemble. Georgy Minasyan taught Duduk at the Romanos Melikyan Music College in Yerevan and performs both locally and internationally throughout the world.
Performance
In 1998, Georgy Minasyan founded the Dudukner Ensemble which has been performing internationally for over a decade. They have performed and composed for award-winning films, including the 2004 documentary “Heure Eternelle” (a film about Narekatzy), the First Prize winner at the 2005 Kiev International Film Festival, “En Plein Air”, and have won first place at the “Apricot d’Or” film festival in Yerevan, Armenia.
In addition to numerous compositions for international films, they received widespread praise for the film “Long Way Home” starring Isabel Bayrakdarian for their remarkable arrangements of three Komitas folk songs.
The last international performance took place in Toronto, Canada on January 26, 2019, where Maestro Minasyan performed with his trio as part of the Mystical Duduk in Toronto.
Georgy Minasyan has performed internationally across Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Russia and North America. He has performed alongside artists such as Isabel Bayrakdaryan, Sarah Vaughan, Dizzy Gillespie, Sweets Edison, Ron Carter, and many others.
Instruments
In addition to his mastery as a performer, Georgy Minasyan is also an experienced teacher, inventor and tireless investigator of the instrument.
His patented modifications include adding a metal lever system to the traditional Duduk to greatly increase the instrument's range and significantly expand its repertoire beyond traditional folk melodies.

Georgy Minasyan is the author of numerous academic works on learning Duduk.
His works are the fruit of many years of experience in performing and teaching of Georgy Minasyan, who, in his "artistic laboratory", due to his inquisitive mind, never stops, not even for a minute.
