Tigran Karapetyan

Tigran Karapetyan – Musician and Duduk Educator

Born in 1984 in Gyumri, Tigran Karapetyan is an Armenian Duduk player. He began learning the instrument at the Nikoghayos Tigranian Specialized School in Gyumri.
After several years of study, he earned his diploma in 2006 from the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan, within the faculty of traditional instruments.
Starting in 1998, he joined the folk music ensemble of the Public Radio and Television of Armenia, with which he has regularly performed on national and international stages.

From an early age, he took part in numerous national and international competitions. In 2001, he won first prize at the Republican Competition for National Instruments in Yerevan, and in 2003, he was recognized at an international competition in Alexandria, Egypt.

Alongside his musical activities, he has made several recordings and participated in many artistic projects, including My Soul in Song, Armenia in 5 Songs, Military Songs, The Legacy of Komitas, and Sorrows of the Armenian People.

Teaching

Based in France for several years, Tigran Karapetyan continues his educational work by offering both individual and group lessons, notably through the TigKar Duduk Studio located in Rennes.

He is also the author of a method book titled The Duduk – Beginner's Playing Method, designed to support learners in their first steps with this traditional instrument.

Between 2008 and 2009, he taught the Duduk at the Arno Babajanyan Music College, actively contributing to the transmission of this art in an academic setting.
